Sweeney to president and c.e.o. of N.R.A.

WASHINGTON — Dawn Sweeney has been named president and chief executive officer of the National Restaurant Association effective Oct. 1.

Ms. Sweeney’s responsibilities will not only include the leadership of the organization, but also overseeing the National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show and the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation.

"Dawn Sweeney is an extraordinary executive with a record of success leading business and trade associations," said Richard E. Rivera, association chairman and chairman and chief executive officer of Rubicon Enterprises L.L.C. "The association has a bright future, and Dawn’s breadth of experience will be critical as we move forward."

Most recently, Ms. Sweeney was president and chief executive officer of AARP Services Inc. and previously held leadership positions with the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association and the International Dairy Foods Association.
