McDonald's same-store sales rise 6.5% in July

OAK BROOK, ILL. — Comparable sales for McDonald’s Corp. restaurants throughout the world increased 6.5% in July compared with 3.8% during the same month of last year. Global system-wide sales increased 11.7% in July, or 7.8% in constant currencies.

Comparable sales in July for U.S. restaurants were up 4.3%, which the company attributed to the breakfast menu, new food offerings, value and late-night hours.

"We continue to connect with customers through our menu variety and value, innovative marketing and contemporary restaurants," said Jim Skinner, chief executive officer. "These combined initiatives have powered our ongoing momentum and delivered our best sustained sales performance in more than 25 years."

There was also a 7.7% increase in comparable sales in Europe and a 9.9% increase in Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa.

Comparable sales represent sales at all McDonald’s restaurants in operation for at least 13 months.
