CHICAGO — R.M. Palmer Co., a provider of seasonal chocolate novelties, has teamed with Nascar Nextel Cup driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. to launch a new candy bar, Dale Jr.’s Big Mo’. The launch will mark the first time in R.M. Palmer’s 60-year history that it will offer a milk chocolate everyday candy bar.
Introduced at the 2007 Candy Expo in Chicago, Big Mo’ is a play off Mr. Earnhardt’s hometown of Mooresville, N.C., and the longtime moniker used for he and his closest friends, the "Dirty Mo’ Posse."
The candy bar will come in two flavors — creamy caramel and peanut butter — and is set to hit stores nationwide in January 2008.
"At one point or another everyone has had their own idea of making the perfect candy bar, and this was my chance to do it," Mr. Earnhardt said. "It’s really cool to have my name on a candy bar, and it’s a pleasure to partner with R.M. Palmer Co. in putting this product on the shelves."
R.M. Palmer’s announcement comes one day after The Hershey Co., Hershey, Pa., said it will introduce "collector edition" Hershey and Kit Kat bars featuring the late Dale Earnhardt Sr. The Hershey bars will be available beginning in January 2008, with the promotion running through May 2008.
