THOMASVILLE, GA. — Flowers Foods Bakeries Group has named A. Craig White regional vice-president with responsibility for a newly formed sales region within the Bakeries Group. In his new role, he will oversee sales and operations for a region that includes West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, and new markets in Ohio. This region includes Flowers bakeries and sales offices in Bluefield, W. Va.; Nashville and Morristown, Tenn.; and Batesville, Ark.
"Demand for our products in existing and new markets continues to grow," said Gene D. Lord, president and chief operating officer of Flowers Foods Bakeries Group. "With Craig at the helm, this new sales region will allow us to effectively manage our market expansion northward."
A 28-year Flowers veteran, Mr. White joined the company’s Miami bakery in 1979 as a route sales person. During his career, he has been vice-president of sales for two of Flowers’ Florida bakeries. He was named president of the Miami bakery in 1991 and president of Flowers’ Morristown bakery in 2004, the position he was in until his most recent promotion.
Succeeding Mr. White as president of the Morristown bakery is Jess Maggard Jr. Mr. Maggard most recently was the bakery’s vice-president of sales.
"Jess has been an important part of our team for many years and has contributed to our company’s ongoing success," Mr. Lord said. "I know he will do an outstanding job in Morristown."
Mr. Maggard became affiliated with Flowers Bakeries in 1988 when he joined the company’s independent distributor program. In 1990, Flowers hired him as a sales representative for its Bluefield bakery. He was promoted to district manager in 1991, distribution systems manager in 1993, and director of sales in 1995. He was named vice-president of sales for Morristown in 2000.
