Bachelder named chief executive at AFC Enterprises

ATLANTA — AFC Enterprises, Inc., the franchisor and operator of Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits, has named Cheryl A. Bachelder chief executive officer of AFC Enterprises and president of its Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits’ brand. Ms. Bachelder, 51, succeeds Frederick B. Beilstein, who held the position on an interim basis.
"Cheryl is ideally suited to lead AFC and Popeyes," said Frank Belatti, chairman of the board. "She is a highly regarded leader with a wealth of strategic and operational experience, and an impressive record of accomplishment from having held leadership positions at some of our industry’s most recognizable companies. Cheryl has been an active member of our board for the last year, has a passion for the Popeyes business, and is committed to building strong relationships with our franchisees."
In addition to serving on the AFC board since November 2006, Ms. Bachelder also has been on the board at True Value Corp. since July 2006. From 2001 to 2003, she was the president and chief concept officer for KFC Corp. in Louisville, Ky. From 1995 to 2000, she was vice-president of marketing and product development for Domino’s Pizza, Inc.
Prior to her restaurant experience, Ms. Bachelder was general manager of the LifeSavers Division of RJR Nabisco. Earlier, she held brand management roles at The Gillette Co. and The Procter & Gamble Co.
Ms. Bachelder received a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration and a master’s of business administration in finance and marketing from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
