SUGAR LAND, TEXAS — A local union representing employees at Imperial Sugar Co.’s Gramercy, La., facility has ratified a three-year contract extending through Feb. 1, 2011.
The 190 employees at the cane refinery plant in Gramercy are represented by United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local 1167-P.
While terms of the new agreement were not released, both sides indicated they were satisfied with the new contract.
"We are pleased to have been able to reach an amicable agreement with the union representing our associates in Louisiana," said Robert A. Peiser, president and chief executive officer of Imperial. "The process demonstrated the mutual respect and partnership between the union and the company, which has developed over the years."
