BURLINGTON, VA. — Bruegger’s Enterprises, Inc., a quick-casual bakery-cafe concept, said same-store sales during fiscal 2007 rose 3% on a company-wide basis and 2.5% on a system-wide basis. Gross sales during fiscal 2007 totaled $178 million, up from $164 million during 2006.

"Many factors contributed to Bruegger’s success in 2007," said James J. Greco, chief executive officer. "We opened 14 new bakeries and saw a steady climb in our weekend sales. The introduction of our Duos program option allowing guests to pair two menu choices — sandwich, salad or soup for one low price — as well as the new signature soups increased traffic."

Bruegger’s operates 268 bakery-cafes with a total of 159 company-owned units and 109 franchise-owned units. The company plans to add 40 bakeries in both existing and new markets throughout the United States during 2008.
