Mistral Equity acquires Shearer's Foods

NEW YORK — Mistral Equity Partners, a New York-based private equity firm focused on the consumer and media sectors, has acquired Shearer’s Foods, Inc., Brewster, Ohio. Shearer’s produces and distributes branded, co-packed and private label seasoned snack foods.

"Shearer’s has a leading and unique position in the snack food market that is supported by strong long-term customer relationships and an experienced and well-respected management team," said Andrew R. Heyer, chief executive officer, Mistral. "We look forward to working with Shearer’s management to achieve new levels of growth."

Founded in 1974, Shearer’s operates seven locations, including two manufacturing plants and four distribution facilities. The company’s snack food lineup includes a complete line of potato chips, tortilla chips, pretzels, cheese curls/puffs, peanuts, popcorn and corn chips.

In addition to Shearer’s, other food companies in which Mistral has acquired an interest include The Hain Celestrial Group, Otis Spunkmeyer and Reddy Ice Group.
