FRESNO, CALIF. — The California Raisin Marketing Board will introduce a raisin category in the 2008 American Pie Council’s Crisco National Pie Championships scheduled for April 18-20 in Kissimmee, Fla. To participate, pie bakers need to include at least one cup of California raisins in either a raisin-flavored pie or another flavored pie.
"California raisins have been a traditional ingredient in baked goods, and we look forward to seeing raisins make an appearance in a wide variety of pies," said Larry Blagg, senior vice-president of the Fresno-based raisin board.
