Danisco, Copenhagen, Denmark, has agreed to acquire the shares of Abitec Ltd., which supplies emulsifiers and medium-chain triglycerides, mainly to the European market. Abitec Ltd., Northampton, U.K., is part of the Ingredients Division of Associated British Foods P.L.C. and generates annual revenue of about DKK200 million ($39.2 million).

When the agreement is completed, Danisco will integrate Abitec Ltd. into its Emulsifiers business unit.

"By combining Danisco’s emulsifiers technology and production capability with Abitec’s customer base and market access, we will create an even better platform for developing new products and supporting customer needs and thereby further enhance our position," said Martin Klavs Nielsen, head of Danisco’s Emulsifiers business.
