Mills to executive v.p., c.f.o. at ADM

DECATUR, ILL. — Archer Daniels Midland Co. has named Steven R. Mills executive vice-president and chief financial officer, effective March 1. Mr. Mills, who currently is senior vice-president of strategic planning, will succeed Douglas Schmalz, who will retire from the company after more than 23 years of service.

Mr. Mills joined ADM in 1979 and held several senior treasury and accounting roles prior to being named controller in 1994. He was elected vice-president in 2000 and group vice-president in 2002. In 2006, he was named senior vice-president of strategic planning.

He received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Illinois College, and in 1980 earned the designation of certified public accountant.
