CHICAGO — Barilla has introduced two new pasta lines — Barilla Piccolini and Barilla Whole Grain.
The Piccolini line comes in four shapes — mini farfalle, mini penne, mini wheels and mini fusilli. It is designed for young children and can be cooked in 7 minutes. This line will be available nationwide in April.
The whole grain line is made with 51% whole wheat and has three times the fiber of traditional pastas.
"At Barilla, we took the extra time to develop a whole grain product that delivers not only the benefits of whole grain but that is delicious and easy to make," said Lorenzo Boni, Barilla executive chef. "Barilla Whole Grain always cooks up perfectly … and is great in any pasta recipe."
The whole grain line comes in four shapes — rotini, penne, spaghetti and thin spaghetti. It is available for a suggested retail price of $1.39 for a 13.25-oz package.
