SAN ANTONIO — C.H. Guenther & Son, Inc. has acquired Williams Foods, a producer of dry seasonings, mixes and meal-enhancing products. Williams Foods, Lenexa, Kas., makes a variety of products under its proprietary brands Williams, Sun Bird and Country Store and also makes products under store brand labels for retailers.
C.L. Williams started the company in 1937. Conrad "Jim" Hock acquired it in 1963, and he is still president and chief executive officer of Williams Foods. The company operates three production facilities and has more than 200 employees.
"Jim and his team have done a tremendous job over the past 50-plus years in taking the Williams brand beyond its original niche in chili seasoning and broadening the business across a multitude of brands and product offerings," said Dale W. Tremblay, president and c.e.o. of San Antonio-based C.H. Guenther & Son. "We expect this company to be a very nice complement to our consumer business, which includes strong brands like Pioneer and White Wings."
