McDonald's comp sales up 11.7% in February

OAK BROOK, ILL. — Comparable sales for McDonald’s Corp. restaurants throughout the world increased 11.7% in February, which compared with 5.7% during the same month of last year. Global system-wide sales increased 19.9%, or 13.2% in constant currencies, in February.
Comparable sales for U.S. restaurants were up 8.3%, which the company attributed to breakfast and coffee options as well as everyday value offerings.
"Our focus on our customers around the world continues to deliver results and drive McDonald’s global business," said Jim Skinner, chief executive officer. "Through the Plan to Win, we’re committed to providing our customers the menu variety they want with the convenience and value they expect from McDonald’s."
There was also a 15.4% increase in comparable sales in Europe and a 10.9% increase in Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa.
Comparable sales represent sales at all McDonald’s restaurants in operation for at least 13 months including those temporarily closed.
