MILFORD, CONN. — In what the restaurant chain describes as "an enticing economic package," Subway restaurants on March 24 launched a $5 footlong promotion.
The offer represents up to a 25% discount on the company’s footlong submarine sandwiches.
"There’s no debating this promotion will help give busy Americans some pocketbook breathing room and provide an easy grab-and-go meal solution," said Jeff Moody, chief executive officer of the Subway Franchisee Advertising Fund Trust.
The promotion coincides with a campaign launched this month by Subway celebrating the 10-year anniversary of a decision by Jared Fogle, a company spokesperson, to begin a diet centered on Subway sandwiches — a 6-inch turkey sandwich for lunch and a 12-inch veggie sandwich for dinner. Mr. Fogle lost 245 lbs on the diet and has kept off the weight since then.
