TUCKER, GA. — Flowers Foods has introduced a new line of cake donuts. The single-serve donuts are available nationally under the Mrs. Freshley’s brand and in the Southeast, Southwest and Mid-Atlantic states under the Blue Bird brand. Flowers said the cake donuts are available primarily through vending and convenience store channels, but are also available to other retail outlets.
Available in individual 3.25-oz packages, the cake donuts come in three flavors: glazed, cinnamon, and blueberry. The donuts are coated with a light sugar glaze and contain zero grams of trans fat per serving.
"We are always looking for exciting ways to improve our snacks and this represents our next generation of cake donuts," said Brent Bradshaw, Flowers’ brand manager. "We developed a new recipe that, along with the smaller size, gives the donuts a softer texture, but still delivers the old-fashioned, rich flavor everyone loves. We believe they will have wider appeal among consumers of all ages."
