SunOpta taps Tavares as c.o.o.

TORONTO — SunOpta Inc. has appointed Tony Tavares as vice-president and chief operating officer effective June 1. He will assume operational and strategic responsibility for the company’s SunOpta Food Group operations and global supply chain initiatives. He will report to Steve Bromley, president and chief executive officer.
Mr. Tavares has more than 20 years of food industry experience. Most recently he was c.e.o. of Maple Lodge Farms Inc., Brampton, Ont., a Canadian food company with revenues of about $550 million and operations in fresh and deli meats, pet foods and feed milling.
