Dr. Schar Srl. launches U.S. division

POSTAL, ITALY — Dr. Schär Srl., a European manufacturer of gluten-free foods, recently announced the opening of a U.S. division, Schär USA Inc. The American group plans to launch a line of gluten-free products, including bread, pasta, pizza, cookies, mixes and crackers.
"The decision to establish a commercial office in the U.S. rather then going on with exporting from Europe was triggered by the strong demand for gluten-free products in a significant market looking for a larger variety of quality products for people living with the celiac condition," said Hannes Berger, Schär USA Inc. president and chief operating officer. "We are taking the U.S. market very seriously."
Schär said the products will be available nationwide in health food stores and selected supermarkets.
