CARROLLTON, TEXAS — Carlson Restaurants Worldwide Inc., the parent company of T.G.I. Friday’s Inc., announced it will make the "Right Portion, Right Price" menu a permanent part of the T.G.I. Friday’s menu at its U.S. restaurants.
"A year ago, the industry thought we were nuts when we announced smaller portions at lower prices across the menu, all day, every day," said Richard Snead, president and chief executive officer of Carlson Restaurants. "They said it was a crazy idea and it would not work. Providing value and choices is our business.
"T.G.I. Friday’s was the first to take a broad position on portion size and it’s a leadership position we won’t relinquish."
In line with the announcement, T.G.I. Friday’s said it has added three choices to the menu — Petite Sirloin, Roasted Red Pepper Sausage and Chicken Penne, and Strawberry Fields Salad with Chicken — bringing the total number of "Right Portion, Right Price" items to 11.
Since introducing the menu a year ago, T.G.I. Friday’s said its guest counts have outperformed the casual dining industry and its average checks have increased.
