UZWIL, SWITZERLAND — The Buhler Technology Group announced it has signed an agreement with U.S.-based Compass Diversified Holdings to acquire Aeroglide Inc. Based in Raleigh, N.C., Aeroglide is a mechanical engineering company with operations in the field of drying and other thermal processes. The company also is active in the food, feed and industrial sectors.
Buhler said the acquisition will allow the companies — which have maintained a close business relationship for years — to continue to develop optimally matched solutions. Buhler said it will operate Aeroglide as an autonomous center of competence in the form of a business unit.
Aeroglide, formerly a family-owned company, has approximately 230 employees, and in 2007 generated sales of about $64 million. The company operates sales sites in the United States, Asia and Europe. Aeroglide supplies various thermal processes and produces specialized production systems.
The drying systems of Aeroglide, which are based on belt conveyor technology, complete Buhler’s portfolio especially in the field of extrusion.
