WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Jones Bakeries, Inc., an 81-year-old wholesale baker offering bread, buns, rolls and sweet goods under the Olde Salem and Country Hearth brands, ceased operations on Tuesday. According to the 2008 Baking/Snack Directory & Buyers Guide, Jones Bakeries operates one baking facility in Winston-Salem with annual sales of $10 million. According to the company, the decision to close the facility was driven by difficult business conditions. Several of the company’s 28 employees have retired, while most of the others have found jobs, Jones Bakeries said.
