NEWARK, DEL. — Corn Products Specialty Ingredients has introduced Erysta brand erythritol, a line of erythritol and erythritol-containing sweetening systems, to its polyols product portfolio. The erythritol sweeteners are in white, odorless powder form and offer a clean, sweet taste similar to sucrose, according to Corn Products Specialty Ingredients. They are about 70% as sweet as sucrose, but at 0.2 calories per gram, they have 5% of the calories of sucrose.

The Erysta brand erythritol sweeteners may be used alone or in combination with other polyols and/or sweeteners to meet a variety of low-calorie or low-sugar and sugar-free product development needs.

Newark-based Corn Products Specialty Ingredients is part of Corn Products U.S. Corn Products International, Westchester, Ill., increased its focus on polyols in 2007 by acquiring SPI Polyols and renaming it Corn Products Specialty Ingredients.
