J.O.Y. Foods, Pilgrim's Pride form j.v. for McDonald's

DALLAS — J.O.Y. Foods, Inc., a private label manufacturer, and Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. have formed a joint venture called Merit Provisions L.L.C. that will build a new plant to serve McDonald’s, according to the Dallas Business Journal.

The new joint venture will supply approximately 40 million lbs of chicken nuggets, patties and filets to McDonald’s annually. J.O.Y. Foods will own 51% of the venture while Pilgrim’s Pride will own 49%.

The Dallas Business Journal said the plant is in the planning stages but is scheduled to be operational by 2010. FBN
