McDonald's comp sales rise 8% in July

OAK BROOK, ILL. — McDonald’s Corp. announced its global comparable sales increased 8% in July and 6.9% year-to-date. The company said system-wide sales for restaurants worldwide increased 15.9% in July, or 9.5% in constant currencies.
Comparable sales at the Oak Brook-based fast-food chain rose 6.7% in the United States in July, driven by a focus on breakfast, chicken and beverages and advertising of the Big Mac.
Meanwhile, European comparable sales rose 7.6%. Countries leading the increase were France, the United Kingdom and Russia. Also in July, McDonald’s said comparable sales increased 7.2% in its Asian/Pacific, Middle Eastern and African markets.
