Campbell to add soup production at N. Carolina facility

CAMDEN, N.J. — The Campbell Soup Co. said it will add soup production equipment as part of a planned investment in its Maxton, N.C., manufacturing facility. The company also plans to increase the size of the facility by 4,000 square feet and add 50 new full-time jobs over a three-year period.

Campbell, which currently employs approximately 800 people at Maxton, began operating the facility in 1978. The facility currently produces Campbell’s Select Harvest soups, Campbell’s Chunky soups, Campbell’s Healthy Request soups and Swanson broth at the 1.8-million-square-foot facility.

The expansion is expected to be completed next summer, Campbell said.

"Maxton is an ideal location for adding this new soup line due to our highly skilled and dedicated work force and our ability to produce products efficiently," said Mark T. Cacciatore, senior director of operations at Campbell’s Maxton facility. "With this added capacity, we will be able to meet the ongoing consumer demand for these high-quality ready-to-serve soups and broths."
