ATLANTA — Sealed Air has opened Packforum Americas, a 28,000-square-foot facility that includes two professional kitchens, a packaging equipment interaction area, a retail supermarket meat department and an Innovation Zone. The facility is located within a 10-minute drive from Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to serve North America and Latin America.
"Packforum is exactly what its name implies — a forum for generating, sharing and advancing ideas about the food packaging industry," said Jean-Marie Demeautis, president of Sealed Air’s Cryovac Food Solutions.
One kitchen at Packforum features a theater setting for demonstrations. The second, a back-of-the-house food service kitchen, may be used to test food packages in a real-world setting.
An active packaging equipment interaction area has more than a dozen systems in operation, which allows Sealed Air customers to test their products in multiple formats, including vacuum shrink bags, Darfresh vacuum skin packaging, tray lidding and vertical form-fill-and-seal. The Innovation Zone is designed to help customers refresh their ideas with Cre8 package design and Cryovac graphis services.
Sealed Air has similar centers in Paris and Shanghai, People’s Republic of China.
