NEW YORK — Weight Watchers International, Inc. and Dawn Food Products, Inc., have teamed to introduce Golden Sponge Cakes with Creamy Filling, a product the companies said are a "more sensible version of the cream-filled mini yellow sponge cakes that became famous in the 1930s."
The new sponge cakes have 80 calories, 3 grams of fat and a Weight Watchers Points value of 1 per serving.
"With a limited selection of sensible yet great tasting snacks available, we want to offer consumers a greater variety of sweet baked goods that would help them stay on track while maintaining a healthier lifestyle," said Hugh Dever, senior licensing manager, Weight Watchers International. "These new Golden Sponge Cakes provide consumers both the convenience and taste they are seeking."
The Golden Sponge Cakes come six per box and have a suggested retail price of $3.39. They join a line of snack cakes available in a variety of flavors, including lemon, chocolate, carrot and caramel.
