Burger King cutting trans fats

MIAMI — Burger King Corp. said its restaurants are now using trans-fat free cooking oils, and by the first of November all ingredients on the menu will have zero grams artificial trans fat.
"Removing artificial trans fats from our cooking oils and ingredients is another example of our BK Positive StepsSM nutrition program," said John W. Chidsey, chairman and chief executive officer. "Many Burger King restaurants have been using trans fat free cooking oils for several months, and our customers tell us that their favorite menu items taste the same or even better. This is a result of our rigorous operational standards, supply requirements and extensive consumer taste tests."
The BK Positive StepsSM program also includes efforts to restrict advertising to children under the Council for Better Business Bureaus’ Children’s Food and Beverage Advertising Initiative.
