Casa de Oro sells facility, changes management

OMAHA — Casa de Oro Foods, L.L.C. said it has sold its manufacturing facility in Louisville, Ky., to Mesa Foods, Inc., a company that includes several former members of Casa de Oro Foods’ management team. Casa de Oro, a maker of flour tortilla products, said it will continue to operate its facility in Omaha.

"We are excited to be operating independently from the Louisville operation," said Tim Cranor, president of Casa de Oro. "We look forward to providing the same high level of service and quality products that our Omaha customers have relied on since the plant began operations in 1992."

Casa de Oro was acquired by Plaza Belmont Fund II, L.L.C. in 2004 from ConAgra Foods, Inc. Since the acquisition, the company has shifted its focus to making products for large food service customers and food companies.

""The sale of the Louisville plant, together with the sale of our Chi-Chi’s retail brand in 2005, completes the company’s strategic realignment," said John T. Stout Jr., chief executive officer of Casa de Oro and Plaza Belmont.

In line with the sale, Casa de Oro announced several management changes.

David Foran has joined the company as vice-president of sales. Most recently he was with TreeHouse Foods. Earlier, he worked at Safeway, The Kellogg Co. and Interstate Brands Corp.

Greg Power was promoted to vice-president of quality assurance and product development. Mr. Power joined Casa de Oro in 2006 from Mexican Original Foods, a subsidiary of Tyson Foods, Inc.

Shawn Jones was named quality assurance manager. A 13-year-veteran at Casa de Oro, Mr. Jones most recently was plant superintendent.

Mike Doeden was promoted to plant manager. A 16-year-veteran at Casa de Oro, Mr. Doeden most recently was assistant plant manager.

Cameron Stuart has joined Mr. Doeden’s staff as plant superintendent.
