BIG HORN, WYO., and SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. — Gourmetceuticals, L.L.C. and Curamedics Pharmaceuticals, Inc. will collaborate to co-develop functional food products for the human and veterinary markets, the two companies announced Oct. 23.
Terms of the deal involve using two Gourmetceuticals’ ingredients: an antioxidant in PPL-240 and an immune booster in GLP-1. The companies will co-develop a beverage, candy and chewable wafers for the human market. Products are expected to launch nationally in 2009. Royalties will be paid to Gourmetceuticals upon sale of the products.
"The products will provide consumers with added health benefits that are backed by more than 20 years of clinical studies, which support the ingredients’ satiety and efficacy," said Dr. Garrett Lindemann, Ph.D., chief executive officer of Big Horn-based Gourmetceuticals.
Dave Baj, c.e.o. of Curamedics Pharmaceuticals, said, "Curamedics made a strategic decision to collaborate with Gourmetceuticals as we enter the growing health and wellness market because of its scientifically validated ingredients. We look forward to a long-term partnership with Gourmetceuticals and to co-developing unique, premium products."
