Carpenter named general counsel of McCormick

SPARKS, MD. — W. Geoffrey Carpenter, the current associate general counsel and assistant secretary for McCormick and Company, Inc., has been named general counsel and secretary of the company. Mr. Carpenter replaces Robert W. Skelton, who is retiring at the end of the year after 32 years with the company.
Mr. Carpenter joined the company in 1984 and has been the company’s associate general counsel and assistant secretary since 1996. Mr. Skelton joined McCormick in 1976 and was promoted to vice-president, general counsel and secretary in 1996. He became senior vice-president, general counsel and secretary in 2002. Mr. Skelton was a member of the boards of a number of the company’s divisions and subsidiaries and is also an emeritus member of the McCormick Multiple Management Board.
