SAINT PAUL, MINN. — Cargill donated $500,000 to Second Harvest Heartland, the largest-ever single corporate donation given to the Upper Midwest’s largest hunger-relief organization. Rob Zeaske, executive director of Second Harvest Heartland, said the organization was "humbled" by Cargill’s generosity. "With this $500,000 contribution, Cargill has taken a very ambitious step toward addressing the growing gap between the need for and availability of emergency food supplies here in the heartland." For each $1 donated, Second Harvest said it can distribute more than $9 worth of grocery products for those in need.
