Great American Cookie concept headed to Canada

NEW YORK — NexCen Brands, Inc. has signed a master of franchise agreement to expand its Great American Cookies franchised stores into Canada. The agreement, together with a development agreement previously announced for 30 stores to be opened in Mexico, is part of a larger expansion plan designed to add Great American Cookies stores throughout North America.
As part of the agreement, NexCen said it will develop 40 Great American Cookies stores in Canada over a 10-year term, with four stores expected to open in the first year of the agreement.
"We believe this new development agreement for Great American Cookies in Canada demonstrates the broad strength of this brand and more generally our ability to expand the international reach of all our franchise brands," said Kenneth J. Hall, chief executive officer of NexCen Brands, Inc.
In addition to Great American Cookies, NexCen Brands owns six other franchised brands, including Marble Slab Creamery, MaggieMoo’s, Pretzel Time, and Pretzelmaker. NexCen acquired Great American Cookies in January.
Founded in 1977, Great American Cookies is known for its signature cookie cakes, trademark flavors and menu of gourmet products that are sold in shopping centers and malls across the United States.
