MARSHALL, MINN. — The Schwan Food Co. has announced plans to sell its European frozen pizza businesses to Dr. Oetker UK Ltd. and the Freiberger Group, a move the company said will allow it to focus on the growth of its business in North America.

As part of the transaction, Dr. Oetker will acquire Schwan’s pizza production plant in Leyland, England, the Chicago Town frozen food brand, and distribution rights for the Freschetta and Tony’s brands in Europe.

Freiberger, which separately finalized a supply agreement with Dr. Oetker to manufacture branded pizza products to sell across Europe, will acquire Schwan’s pizza plant in Osterweddingen, which is near Magdeburg, Germany.
