Campbell, U.S.D.A. partner to launch MyPyramid tool

CAMDEN, N.J. — The Campbell Soup Co. has launched an on-line tool that allows consumers to personalize the government’s dietary recommendations from MyPyramid. The tool was launched in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Small Changes Summit in Washington, held to showcase accomplishments of MyPyramid Corporate Challenge partners.
Located in the nutrition and wellness section of Campbell’s web site (www.campbellsoup.com), Campbell’s MyPyramid tool allows consumers to enter their age, gender, weight, height and activity level into an on-line calculator. Consumers then have the ability to "mouse over" the MyPyramid visual, with the calculator providing recommended intake for each food group and suggestions on Campbell products and recipes that may help them meet those goals. The site also provides sample menus for different calorie and sodium levels that feature Campbell products.
"We know that eating well can be challenging," said Chor-San Khoo, Ph.D., vice-president of Campbell’s Global Nutrition & Health. "As a charter member of the MyPyramid Corporate Challenge, we are excited to launch this on-line application that helps educate the public on healthy eating. It shows the small changes people can make to get more vegetables and whole grains with options that are lower in fat, sodium and calories while enjoying convenient Campbell products, including Campbell’s soups, V8 juices, Prego Italian sauces and Pepperidge Farm breads and crackers."
