CINCINNATI — The Procter & Gamble Co. has reached a settlement with Kraft Foods Inc., thus ending a patent infringement lawsuit. P.&G. alleged Kraft’s Maxwell House plastic coffee container infringed on its patent for a similar Folgers product.
The terms and details of the settlement are not being disclosed.
"We are delighted by the terms of this settlement and will not hesitate to do what it takes to continue to protect our intellectual property," said Steve Jemison, P.&G.’s chief legal officer.
P.&G. completed the sale of the Folgers Coffee business to the J.M. Smucker Co. in November.
"Kraft Foods is pleased to settle this matter with P.&G. in such an efficient and pragmatic way," said Marc Firestone, executive vice-president of corporate and legal affairs for Kraft. "We look forward to moving ahead on our Maxwell House brand."
