GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. — Old Orchard Brands has entered into a licensing agreement with Chiquita Brands International to market frozen fruit smoothie concentrates. The Chiquita Frozen Fruit Smoothies will be available in recyclable 12-oz plastic cans that provide three, 8-oz servings when blended with ice and water.

Each smoothie serving contains at least 1/2 cup of fruit and 100% of the recommended dietary allowance of vitamin C. The line includes flavors such as strawberry banana, banana colada, peach mango and mixed berry.

"At retail storefronts the average cost of a smoothie is between $3 and $4 each" said Mark Saur, president of Old Orchard Brands. "An 8-oz serving of Chiquita Frozen Fruit Smoothie is well under a dollar and provides a full serving of fruit, so it’s a great way to integrate the health benefits of fresh fruit to your diet."

The product will begin shipping this month and has a suggested retail price of $2.69 per can.
