TETERBORO, N.J. — Symrise has introduced two new ready-to-drink (R.-T.-D.) coffee concepts in Barista Premium Coffee Coolers and Fruit ‘n Java. Symrise’s Flavor Designers Club, an on-line proprietary panel, played a role in formulating the concepts.
Coffee lovers on the panel said they drank coffee in the morning for an energy boost, in the middle of the day to sustain energy and in the evening as a pleasant ritual, frequently to complete a meal. Panelists who were not avid coffee drinkers but did not reject it said they are interested in R.-T.-D. coffee infused with "good-for-you" fruit tastes. The Fruit ‘n Java concept blends in healthy ingredients such as B vitamins and ginseng.
The sensory arm of the Marketing and Sensory Consumer Science Department (M&SCS) for Symrise, North America, then validated the prototypes among consumer panels with people between the ages of 19 to 54, the same age group as the online panel.
"The entire flavor team collaborated in developing R.-T.-D. coffee beverage concepts that hit the mark," said Emmanuel Laroche, vice-president of the M&SCS. "It’s a good example of what customers stand to gain in the earliest stages of product development. They can be sure of our exclusive, accelerated flavor development process that will get them to market faster with flavors that lead to product success."
