ZURICH, SWITZERLAND — David S. Johnson has been named president and chief executive officer of Americas and a member of the senior management team of Barry Callebaut AG.
The appointment is effective May 1, and Mr. Johnson will succeed Massimo Garavaglia, who will become president of Western Europe. Mr. Garavaglia will succeed Onno Bleeker, who is retiring from executive functions and taking on a strategic role in the Barry Callebaut Group.
"The board of directors would like to sincerely thank Onno Bleeker for 20 highly successful years of service with Barry Callebaut," said Andreas Jacob, chairman. "After so many years in executive functions, Onno Bleeker wished to give his career a new direction. We are grateful we will be able to continue to benefit from his vast professional expertise in his new function. The board also thanks Massimo Garavaglia for shaping Barry Callebaut into the No.1 chocolate industrial company in North America within only three years and wishes him continued success in his new function in Europe."
Prior to coming to Barry Callebaut, Mr. Johnson was c.e.o. of Michael Foods and worked for Kraft Foods Global for more than 20 years.
