WAYNE, N.J. — Toys"R"Us, Inc., a toy and baby products retailer, has launched "R" Market, a new, dedicated shop in select stores offering an assortment of consumables and commodities.
Initially, "R" Markets will be located at the front of more than 260 of the company’s 585 Toys"R"Us stores, with plans for additional locations later this year.
Among the food and beverage products to be offered through "R" Market are light snacks, including chips, puffs, pretzels, cookies, crackers and fruits; breakfast foods, such as cereals and nutrition bars; and beverages, including juice boxes, child-size nonperishable milk and bottled water. The company also will step up its assortment of baby foods and infant formula as part of the initiative.
"As part of our business strategy, we are continually focused on improving the shopping experience for customers in our stores," said Jerry Storch, chairman and chief executive officer. "This includes looking for new ways to provide busy parents with the convenience of finding everything they need for their kids under one roof. The introduction of "R" Market offers customers a uniquely edited presentation of differentiated, kid-focused products from well-known manufacturers, as well as newer brands."
