FAIRFIELD, CALIF. — The Jelly Belly Candy Co. plans to introduce its Superfruit Mix assortment of flavors this summer. The new flavors include acai berry, Barbados cherry, cranberry, blueberry and pomegranate. A poll of Jelly Belly Candy consumers voted acai berry as the top new flavor the company should develop and introduce.
In an effort to meet consumer demand for less processed products, the Jelly Belly Candy Co. developed a new recipe for the Superfruit Mix that uses tapioca syrup and evaporated cane juice. In addition, all five flavors are made with colors derived from natural sources such as purple carrot juice, black currants, grape skins and hibiscus.
