INDIANAPOLIS — Heartland Sweeteners, L.L.C. has combined with Ganeden Biotech to develop Nevella with Probiotics, a sweetener designed to boost the immune system and promote digestive health. The no-calorie sweetener features the GanedenBC30 (Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, PTA-6086) probiotic strain from Cleveland-based Ganeden Biotech. Nevella with Probiotics may be used as a sugar replacement in baked foods, coffee and tea. "Nevella with Probiotics is a great alternative to yogurt and dairy drinks that aim to improve immunity." said Mike Servie, president of Indianapolis-based Heartland Sweeteners. The sweetener is being distributed nationally in retail grocery stores, and it also is available on-line.
