HAMBURG, GERMANY — Heinz-Jurgen Bertram has been appointed chief executive officer of Symrise AG effective July 1. He succeeds Gerold Linzbach. For personal reasons, Mr. Linzbach has asked that his contract not be renewed when it expires Oct. 22.
Mr. Bertram has been a member of the executive board of Symrise AG since October of 2006 when he was appointed to head the Flavor & Nutrition Division. Mr. Bertram, who has a doctorate in chemistry, joined Bayer AG in 1987. In 1990 he began working for Haarmann & Reimer GmbH, which was absorbed into the newly formed Symrise Group in 2003. He held managerial positions in the research and development area before taking over the group’s global manufacturing operations in 2005.
"In Heinz-Jurgen Bertram, Symrise is gaining a chief executive officer who is totally familiar with the company and the flavors and fragrances sector," said Andreas Schmid, chairman of the Symrise’s supervisory board.
