NORTHBROOK, ILL. – Bell Flavors & Fragrances, Inc. has become the exclusive licensed liquid flavor supplier of Peppadew pepper flavor for the U.S. market under an agreement with Strohmeyer & Arpe Co., Basking Ridge, N.J.
Strohmeyer & Arpe own the rights for the Peppadew fruit in the United States. The company distributes the fruit to food retailers and sells it as an ingredient to food companies.
The company wanted to expand the uses of the ingredient into other applications such as beverages, confections, ice cream and baked foods. The development team of Bell Flavors & Fragrances worked with Strohmeyer & Arpe to get the liquid flavor profile identical to the fruit.
The Peppadew fruit offers a sweet flavor followed by a fresh spicy note, according to Bell Flavors & Fragrances.
"The Peppadew pepper type flavor that has been developed based on the original fruit is truly incredible," said Mike Natale, director of marketing for Bell Flavors & Fragrances. "We have already tested this flavor in many beverage applications, and it really delivers a unique flavor experience that we believe will drive the superfruit category to the next level."
