Synergy forms partnerships for product development

WAUCONDA, ILL. — Synergy Flavors has set up two partnerships and added to its account management team as part of an integrated growth plan for its U.S. operations.

Wauconda-based Synergy Flavors has entered into a commercial alliance with StratiTek, a food formulation and development company based in East Windsor, N.J., to bring new products to the market. Synergy Flavors in conjunction with its parent company Carbery, Cork, Ireland, has entered into a research project with North Carolina State University in Raleigh to develop an understanding of the flavor chemistry of whey proteins. Initial results, which are expected in 2010, will further develop Synergy’s taste-masking capabilities in the sports nutrition sector.

"This has been a big year for us," said Greg Bach, director of business development at Synergy Flavors. "Although there is a tendency at the moment to plan conservatively, we see the next few quarters as opportune to grow our business with forward-thinking projects."

Wendy Bathgate and Elinor Keeton, the two new additions to the account management team, have helped increase Synergy’s sales coverage in the Northwest and Southeast, respectively. Ben Siurek has been promoted to manager of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs.
