ST. LOUIS — Novus International, Inc. has launched Stratum Nutrition, its human nutrition division that beginning in 2010 will focus on growing a portfolio of specialty and functional ingredients that target business-to-business manufacturers of foods, beverages and dietary supplements in North America and Europe. Founded in 1991, Novus International has become a leader in animal agriculture health and nutrition.
Stratum Nutrition will seek to develop branded, value-added ingredients for human health applications and select from both internally cultivated ingredient systems and technology partnerships with third parties.
“Many of the challenges faced in animal health and nutrition are similar to the challenges we face as humans,” said Jeremy Moore, director of Stratum. “For instance, increasing bone strength, controlling digestive inflammation, reducing joint-related lameness and building lean muscle mass are areas Novus has been very successful in helping customers with for many years.
“Because these same types of issues are of relevance to humans, it makes sense for Stratum to bring the Novus nutritional solutions-based business approach closer to the final consumer where a direct impact can be made on human health.”
Stratum Nutrition personnel will be available at SupplySide West Nov. 11-13 in Las Vegas.
