OTTERBURN PARK, QUE. — The proprietary Biosecur product line has received organic certification from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Organic Program, according to Otterburn Park-based Biosecur Lab, Inc. A preservative and disinfectant, Biosecur is derived from organic citrus fruit although it does not contain grapefruit.

Third-party tests have demonstrated that Biosecur kills more than 99.999% of common bacteria 15 to 30 seconds after contact. It is effective against bacteria, fungi and yeast, and it is water soluble. Biosecur may be used in the food industry and other industries such as cosmetic, personal care, industrial, medical and veterinary.

"Non-toxic environmentally safe and now certified organic, Biosecur is a healthy, green alternative to synthetic chemical preservatives and ideal for use in many market segments," said Yves Methot, president of Biosecur Lab. "The potential applications for Biosecur are virtually unlimited, and market response to our recent certification has been overwhelmingly positive."
