Unilever to add ice cream to Slim Fast facility

COVINGTON, TENN. — Unilever’s U.S. division will expand its facility in Covington by adding ice cream and frozen novelty production capabilities as well as freezer space. The investment is estimated to be in the range of $100 million, according to the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development.
Construction is scheduled to begin during the first quarter of calendar 2010, will include the addition of 32,000 square feet of freezer space, and is expected to add 275 employees working at the facility. The Covington plant currently manufactures products for Unilever’s Slim Fast brand.
