Agropur subsidiary acquires Green Meadow Foods

LITTLE CHUTE, WIS. — Trega Foods, a subsidiary of Agropur, a Canadian dairy cooperative, has acquired Green Meadow Foods, Hull, Iowa. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“Green Meadows Foods is a natural fit with the product line and culture of Trega Foods,” said Doug Simon, president of Trega Foods. “Our passion for the cheese industry and the quality products we produce are assets to all our facilities. We are excited to work with the Green Meadows team to integrate and grow the Hull, Iowa, facility to its fullest capacity.”

Green Meadows Foods began operating in November 2008 and has one cheese processing facility. The facility may process approximately 900 million lbs of milk a year and produces 80 million lbs of cheese. In addition, approximately 50 million lbs of dried whey powders is extracted from the milk. The organization employs 85 people.
