MUNDELEIN, ILL. — Z Trim Holdings, Inc. has entered into an agreement with the Aveka Group to collaborate on new product development and manufacturing initiatives. The Aveka Group, Woodbury, Minn., is a contract manufacturing and research and development company that focuses on particle technology. Cresco Food Technologies, L.L.C., a food and nutraceutical processing facility based in Cresco, Iowa, is part of the Aveka Group.
The agreement includes research and development initiatives aimed at establishing and expanding the functional performance of the insoluble and soluble fibers derived from Z Trim Holdings’ patented processes. Z Trim Holdings also will work with Aveka to develop plans to protect and expand Z Trim’s intellectual property.
“Aveka is the perfect partner to help us expand both our production and innovation capabilities,” said Steve Cohen, chief executive officer of Mundelein-based Z Trim Holdings. “Their team brings a diverse mix of knowledge and experience across several markets, including food, industrial, pharmaceutical and cosmetics, all of which have the potential to use and benefit from our technology.”
Willie Hendrickson, founder of the Aveka Group, said, “Z Trim’s technology is truly revolutionary and fits in perfectly with Aveka’s and Cresco Food’s business models of producing value-added products across the food industry and, very possibly, a number of other industries.”
